Crankshaft and its bearings are extremely important part of an engine. These parts convert and forward the rotating motion from the pistons into torque. 

Common failure:

After 20+ years of use these 1ZZ engine crankshafts are prone to develop hairline cracks on the surface of the crankshaft. It is often not visible to plain eye but a reputable machine shop can conduct dye & magnetized surface detection and then it will be noticeable. Old crankshafts that have developed this cracks cannot be reused & regrinded. New crankshaft will be required. You should also refrain from buying second had 1ZZ crankshafts as most of these cranks have the same problem.

If you found this page you will probably need an 1ZZ-FE crankshaft whether yours is knocking/worn off (bearing clearance is too much) or you want to do a Toyota 1ZZ crankshaft swap. 1ZZ engines are more acceptable for tuning and as there are plentiful their prices are relatively low. If you rebuild a 1ZZFE engine right it may do more power than a 2ZZ-GE. 1ZZ engines have lower compression therefore it is more acceptable for forced induction. Although it is a much more complicated subject the crankshaft is first part you need if you want to refurbish or tuning. We offer here an aftermarket 1ZZ-FE crankshaft for sale. If using a standard bearing, replace it with one heaving the same number. If the number of the bearing cannot be determined then select the correct crankshaft bearing by adding together the numbers imprinted on the cylinder block and crankshaft. Then selecting the bearing with the same number as the total. There are 4 sizes of standard bearings marked 1,2,3 and 4 accordingly. See diagram in the bottom of the page.
